Phuket Daytrips - Racha Noi

diving > daytrips > racha noi

Lying 5km South of Racha Yai, Racha Noi (Little King Island) offers, in addition to Racha Yai's attractions, some truly spectacular sites with giant underwater boulders and scenery almost like the Similans with a great chance of seeing large pelagic's such as giant barracudas, manta rays and whale sharks. The visibility is usually better here, as the site is that much further from land.

South Point 12-70m

This pinnacle rising up 12m, lies a couple of hundred meters South of the main island. The scenery is very similar to the Similan Islands: huge boulders and drop offs. Currents here can be quite strong, but you are rewarded by larger fish. Manta rays are commonly seen, circling and feeding, and whalesharks visit occasionally. Schools of blackfin barracuda are common, as are trevally. It's another of those sites where the fish are darting about in the current and you feel anything might show up.

Marita's Rock 4-26m

Lying on the West of the island, Marita’s Rock marine life is extensive. Octopus, sea snakes, moray eels, giant pufferfish and blue-spotted stingrays are all common. With a bit of luck, you may also encounter turtles. Marita's Rock has also some atmospheric swim-through's formed by huge granite boulders.

Marita's Pinnacle 25-65m

Located at just a few hundred meters from Marita's Rock, this pinnacle starts at 25 meters and drops down to a maximum depth of 65 meters. Beautifully decorated with giant gorgones and soft corals, the marine life is impressive.

Banana Bay 4-24m

On the east cost of the island, Banana bay is very similar to Marita’s Rock without the giant boulders.
